| | On the office a couple of weeks ago, Jim and Pam were talking on the phone. Jim can type 68 words a minute. Pam can type 90. This got me thinking…and so I found this website. http://www.typeonline.co.uk/typingspeed.php? For every mistake you make, they take off one word per minute. My fastest: 80 wpm Slowest: 62 wpm Average: 70 wpm My adoring fans who read this blog: (unknown. Let’s make it a competition) At least I’m beating Jim. This will help me write mad fast lesson plans. Tomorrow I start my practicum. I think I want to be that teacher that they’ll invite to their birthday parties. I better warn my students that their teacher has a fragile soul. If they don’t, I’ll try not to take it personally. When I was young, I wanted to invite Bob Nickelson from CBC News at 6:00 to my birthday. He never came because my mom never invited him. In talking about this now, I asked my mom why she didn’t even try and get a note from him. He would have sent a little note I think. It probably would have made my life. I went to Sobey’s for the food that I didn’t buy at Costco. I had maybe six bags and the, “slower” bag guy, who is my age, asked if I wanted help taking it out. I politely answered that I think I could handle it…to which he replied, “Are you kidding me?” I reminded myself that I am still strong and decided not to take it personally as he is apparently an expert as to what customers can handle. Apparently I made a friend in about one minute because by the time we were done putting my groceries in the car, he was showing me an advertisement (all folded up from his wallet) for the next “Transformers” DVD coming out Friday. He was an excited man. I think if I’d have asked, he would have jumped in the car with me and come home with me. He was like, “I get to go home at 5:30! Today was sooooo busy. UGGGGG. I’m going to watch a MOVIE”. I didn’t tell him that I don’t really like movies and prefer TV box sets. He didn’t really need that from me at that moment. I bought my own copy of Blue Like Jazz today. Finally. It took me like a month to read it, (I’m not really a reader). Lee just picked up my book and flipped through it and was like, “whoa…this would be like a really fast read”. Again…I tried not to take this personally. Then he’s like, “huh. I guess I just read really challenging stuff right now.” That was it. I was going to say something but then I though he didn’t really need that from me at that moment. There in squats the toad. |
