| So. At the end of my last blog it said, and I quote, "give me three weeks".
Seems as though I took three years instead.
Wow. Had I known that I was going to have a three year break I would have done something interesting like predict what I was doing with my life now.
Or not doing with my life now.
Interesting stuff.
So. I'm back.

| Another Fairmont season has gone by. If I were Celine Dionne, I'd be singing, "These are the special times". Aside from loosing on 24 hours due to the flu...I was good to go. Also can I mention a full roast beef dinner, an incredible breakfast and smoked turkey dinner as well. It's funny...when I'm sick...I think I'm dieing and I was singing the death scenes from any play/opera/musical I knew in my tiny "sick" closet (couldn't be near the baby...how sad!). My sister told me that I gave her all my money...and then I told her to make sure I split whatever I had between both of my sisters...and then I gave Calista my baton. I also compliment everyone as apparently I figure it's the last time I will see them. Very funny. My mom and I in the vest and touque I gave her for Christmas by the waterfall!
One of my favorite families! Calista, Lori and Darin
My sister Stacy on a hike
A VERY windy day. We could lean in the wind and it would keep us up. I'd seen nothing like it before and I'm from Lethbridge.
They are always like this....
A Tyler and Danielle gift...my first snowboard. I think I might be sick in this picture.
Our snowman with honeydew eyeballs. Carla and I decided to make a children's video for Calista on building a snowman and it was full of Christian conflict, resolution and big intense happy smiles like above. I think it could sell at Blessing's. I'm not kidding. We were pretty funny.
Taking Lee cross-country skiing the lazy way. Rode the chairlift up the hill, found the path and went down. The ladies in the ski shop made us feel stupid and made us tie shoe stings on our skis on the lift so when we got off the lift we'd look and feel like fools.
Stephanie, Mike, Andrew, Tyler and Danielle. Right after some cross country. This is Tyler's favorite sport now. He loves it. He's quite passionate about it Mike and Stephanie taught us this addicting dice game which is basically sort of like "Deal or no Deal" but instead of that being a TV show, it brings the drama right into your living room. I can't handle games like this...I get too greedy and lose. I think I hit a new low when my 93 year old "safe playing" grandma beat me twice. Back to school now. Feel disorientated. Give me three weeks... | | |
| I shaved my beard off. I look sort of weird. Like a lost gazelle.
I was looking for some curly hair product for my sister for Christmas and then all of the sudden I started asking questions about my hair because the lady knew a lot. She told me that if I use drug store shampoo I will have drug store hair.
So I bought this new stuff and basically it is a small price to pay for self-esteem. It was on sale so that's good. I can cut my hair when the opera is done in early March. It works WITH my curls, not AGAINST them.
For student teaching I always looked super good, or as I coined, "very profesh". But my university consultant thought that I could always dress up more. I think he has a vision of a full suit...or at least a tie. I don't think grade ones student's really get ties and I don't want glue on my ties because teaching grade one can be messy. Anyway...whatever. I just smile, play their game and jump through the hoop. After my practicum was finished, my students had a dress rehearsal the next day, so I went into the school for an hour because I was playing guitar for their song. Needless to say, I didn't go for the "profesh" look. Jeans and this skater jacket.
This is the day that the PHOTOGRAPHER comes and basically has a photo of me in the newspaper. Ugh.. Some friends from Coaldale sent up the newspaper to Carstairs and there I am...jeans and a skater jacket. I think my university consultant is currently looking for me trying to revoke an "acceptable" to "unacceptable" on my final evaluation in the area of dress. If he comes, I will run.
Is it cheap to give websites for Christmas? Whatever. Merry Christmas to all my faithful readers.

A site where many many tv shows are available to watch. Except for Dawson's Creek. Oh well. That means that buying season two was still a smart buy!
Oh Dawson's Creek. I need to make sure that Joey will be okay.

| Today my beard came up as a topic of conversation in my grade one classroom. One girl thought I should shave it off. I said, "Oh really? Do ALL of you think that?" Then this little boy raised his hand and said, "Mr.Snyder, I love your beard" to which I responded with, "well thank you very much". Then he said, " I love all of your body Mr. Snyder" as he gave me the biggest and most genuine smile. What a compliment! So funny. Here is a picture of my sister Stacy and I taken in September. I'm still tanned from the summer. My hair is long for winter and is a lot longer now then it is there. Peace out. | | |
| I have been in my grade one class now for nearly a month. They really make me laugh. As John Mayer says, "I wish I were six again". I have decided that grade ones are all about playdough and hugging. You make them playdough...you have new friends for life. Especially playdough with food coloring. At the end of the day they all come and hug me. It is really very sweet. I'm probably the only 20 something that they know, so I really am quite incredible to them. I think some of the little girls in our elementary wing (Grade 1-4) have little crushes on me. I thought to make things interesting, I should give them pictures of me and write on the back, "you're my favorite". That ought to spice up life. The teacher I worked with told them that I would be leaving soon. This girl just looked at me and said, "but....I love you." So cute. Then this boy spoke up and said, "well...when will he be leaving?" My teacher said about a week before Christmas to which he responded and then looked at the class, "a week isn't THAT long to be gone". Then the cloud lifted from my class and they were full of smiles again. My teacher looked at me and said, "they don't get it". I agreed. They are in denial. For my music class, I usually play my guitar and then I invite one student up to play with me on the shakers. I ask them to name our band. With the girls, I can almost guarantee that we'll be, "The horses" or "the happy dogs" or "I love horses". With boys we are "the ninja's" which is a lot better then "the horses" if you ask me. Funny. But as nice a class as they are they will take each other to the grave if one of them isn't following the rules. Both my teacher and I are trying to tackle "tattling" right now. They are friends until one of them breaks a rule...then watch out. As soon as it's dealt with, then they are best friends again. It's like the most intense accountability group ever. We decorated the class for Christmas after school today. Talking trees (that will read the students books), and Santa's, and manger scenes, and Christmas banners, and snow flakes have taken over our lovely fall themed classroom. The kids will probably lose it. It's beautiful. | | |
